The Benedy Glen lies among the Sperrin Mountains along the Glenshane Pass and the area defined is the region between the Ponderosa Bar and Restaurant, which is 1,000 ft. above sea level and the speed limit approaching the town of Dungiven. It is on the main Belfast to Derry Road, known as the A6, which is approximately 50 miles from Belfast and 20 miles from the city of Derry.
A remote and isolated rural area, without any shops, the Benedy is designated by the Environmental Department as part of the Sperrins Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
